About Us
Welcome to Street Lamp!
Street Lamp Productions was created in Rising Sun by founder Laura Woods. Our mission is to provide performing arts education and opportunities in our community and surrounding areas. This group first started doing annual shows and camps at a local church as fundraisers for American Cancer Society and the Muscular Dystrophy Association in 2012.
In August of 2015, the dream of having our own building was realized. We gutted a home interior retail store and created a lobby, classroom, offices, black box theatre, workshop, snack room, handicap restroom and entrances, and a dance room with a springboard floor. After many renovations, rebuilds, and paint, the black box stage was created and our first full show was Disney’s Little Mermaid Jr in December 2015.
Street Lamp Productions is now home to Street Lamp Performing Arts Academy and Street Lamp Community Theatre. Street Lamp has students, talented performers, professional instructors, and guests from Maryland, Pennsylvania, Delaware, and New Jersey. We are a family run theatre and host a variety of performing arts classes, shows, and other community performances! All are welcome!
Street Lamp Performing Arts Academy is our children’s performing arts education program. We offer group classes, shows, community performance opportunities, performing clubs, and private lessons to ages 5-20.
Street Lamp Community Theatre is our nonprofit community theatre specializing in adult and family performance and show opportunities.
